About Seven Mile Beach

Seven Mile Beach is the strip of west-facing coast running north from George Town along West Bay Road, and it is where most visitors to Grand Cayman end up staying. The big resorts sit along here, along with dozens of condominium complexes, and behind them a near-continuous run of restaurants, bars, dive operators, gyms, spas and shops. If you are on the island for a week without a car, this is the part of it you can walk.

The beach itself is public along its whole length, whatever the resort frontage suggests. Public Beach, roughly in the middle, has free parking, restrooms and shade, and is the easiest access point if you are not staying on the sand. Governors Beach further south is quieter. Because the coast faces west, this is the sunset side of the island, which is why so many of the restaurants here are built around a deck and a view.

Practically: West Bay Road backs up around 8am and 5pm, so allow extra time getting into George Town on a weekday. Most businesses along the strip are a short taxi or bus ride apart, and the public minibuses run this route constantly during the day.
