Education in Grand Cayman

Private schools cluster in and around George Town and Savannah, and most follow British, American, or International Baccalaureate curricula. Cayman Prep and High School, St. Ignatius Catholic School, and Triple C School are the longest-running of them. Cayman International School, in Camana Bay, runs an American curriculum through to the IB diploma and draws a lot of expat families, while Grace Christian Academy and Wesleyan Christian Academy cover faith-based education from primary through high school. Waiting lists are common for certain year groups, so families relocating here should apply well before the move.

The public system, run by the Department of Education Services, has a primary school in each district and three government high schools: John Gray in George Town, Clifton Hunter in Frank Sound, and Layman E. Scott Sr. on Cayman Brac. It follows the UK-based CXC curriculum, admission runs on catchment areas, and children of work permit holders can attend for a fee.

Beyond K-12, several preschools and Montessori programmes operate in George Town, Seven Mile Beach, and Savannah, and tutoring centres cover everything from primary maths to IB exam prep in both group and one-on-one formats. The University College of the Cayman Islands offers associate and bachelor's degrees, the Cayman Islands Law School trains lawyers, and a handful of language schools teach students of any age.
