About Bodden Town

Bodden Town was the original capital of the Cayman Islands. It's mostly residential now, a south-coast district about twenty minutes east of George Town with the feel of a long-settled village strung along the main road: houses, churches, small shops, local businesses serving the people who live there rather than passing visitors.

The Pirates Caves are the main paid attraction, a set of natural caverns beneath the town with a garden and no shortage of pirate legend attached. Bodden Town Beach and the adjacent Guard House Park cover the district's history. Further east, Meagre Bay Pond is a protected wetland worth a stop for anyone who cares about birds.
