Grand Cayman is one of the Caribbean’s best dive destinations. Its dive shops split between large operations running multiple boats and small independents that know every coral head by name. Red Sail Sports is the island’s largest operator, with multiple locations including a busy marina at Safehaven. They do Stingray City trips, resort courses, and full certification programs. They’ve got over 3,200 reviews and a 4.9 rating. If you’re coming with family or a bigger group, they’re a safe bet. For a more personal experience, Divetech, based at Lighthouse Point in West Bay, is known for shore diving, tech diving, and freediving courses. They also run the island’s most accessible shore dive site right from their dock.
Over on the East End, Ocean Frontiers has a loyal following. The east side reefs see less traffic than the west, and the diving tends to be quieter, with healthy coral and plenty of marine life. They run morning two-tank trips and offer accommodation packages at Compass Point. Living the Dream Divers operates out of the Seven Mile Beach area and gets strong reviews for small group sizes and attentive guides. Captain Marvin’s Watersports, a family-run operation that has been around since the 1950s, runs popular Stingray City and snorkel tours from West Bay.
Sunset Divers, based at Sunset House just south of George Town, is a favourite among visiting divers who want to roll out of bed and onto the boat. With the hotel, bar, and shore diving all on site, it’s one of the easiest setups on the island. If you want flexibility, Off The Wall Divers and Just Dive Cayman are smaller independents that offer private charters and custom itineraries.
Most shops provide rental gear that is well maintained, though bringing your own mask, fins, or dive computer adds comfort. The water temperature ranges from roughly 78 to 84 F depending on season, so a 3mm wetsuit or rash guard is usually enough. Book ahead during Christmas, Easter, and summer holidays. Stingray City trips often sell out first.
